The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. automated vacuum cleaner of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.
Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work, or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad to a dry one in seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and provide better cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxes This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a concern in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it's more expensive and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the degree of dirt they tend to be.
For larger houses, it's worth opting for one with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home using the app or voice controls. A stairway mode is useful if you own a large furniture. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to create an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app also grants access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It features an impressive 8000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
